What is Acute Care?
“Acute care” refers to the treatment of acute medical problems. Acute medical problems are those that develop suddenly, have immediate or rapidly developing symptoms, and are limited in their duration when properly managed. They are often caused by an infection, injury, medication, or loss of control of a chronic medical condition. Treatments for this type of problem tend to be temporary, though more sustained interventions may be required to prevent relapse/recurrence of acute problems.
